Background & Requirement

a expressway management company, which manages the operation of three expressways in the territory. The total distance of these three expressways is 234 km. The company has 1 control centre, 21 toll stations, 2 service areas, and 4 tunnels. Client requires that the existing computer network should be utilized for the system. The system must allow the control centre to send broadcast or unicast to all the other locations including toll stations, service areas, tunnels etc. Each broadcasting point can broadcast speech or program locally. The system can be scheduled to run background music without operator. Each broadcasting point should be able to call the control centre and communication should be supported.

Expressway Solution Description

The main control room is centred in the surveillance/control centre. totalling 27 broadcasting zones/points. no requirement for cablings along the long distance expressways to reach other broadcasting points ¨C they are all connected through existing IP network.
  • Automated power turn-on/off; work-and-rest schedules can be programmed on a 24x7 basis (precise to the second); automatic playback of music and radio programs; playing different programs by zones; separate volume adjustment for the terminals by zone/point.
  • Program-managed unicast, multicast and broadcast services; operator can monitor the ongoing broadcast information; toll station, service area and tunnel can play speech or program locally; the surveillance/control centre has the highest priority and can interrupt any ongoing local broadcast tasks for tasks with higher priority.
  • The main control room and lead's offices each have paging microphones for the broadcasting of announcement or speech. Intercom is supported between the paging microphone and the terminals to ensure effective and efficient communication.
